Project Overview

Tailwind Traders is a fictional company and dataset created by Microsoft for Power BI student usage. This project was a capstone project for Power BI.

Project Goals

The objective of the project is to create a small report displaying sales data and profit data on separate pages to allow easy understanding of the data. An additional page was included for additional insight into international market penetration and performance. A mobile version was created as well and is shown in the gallery below.

Tools Used

Data Cleaning/Preparation

  • Inspection of initial data
  • Handling missing and blank values
  • Removing outliers
  • Data cleaning and normalization

Sales Data Requirements

Display sales data to see real-time insights into products to track inventory, outcome of loyalty points program and allow users to make decisions on stock, marketing and progress and spot trends. Due to the sales being international, it was necessary to obtain accurate currency conversion to display all revenue and sales in U.S. dollars.

Key Findings & Insights

While the customers in the UK have the most loyalty points, and French customers spend more per purchase, the most profit has come from Australian customers, followed by US customers.
